Joon Media 03: Garry Schyman Destroy All Humans
This week’s show is meta, in a way, because we’re dealing with aliens from the sky and below the sea. MIND. BLOWN.
I’ve interviewed Garry Schyman in the past about his music for the BioShock series of games, as well as his work on Dante’s Inferno and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. However, we’ve never officially spoken about his entry into video game composition. And it’s an amazing story, because he never intended on becoming a composer for games in the first place. We chat about his success with the trio of Destroy All Humans! games, and what sci-fi music sounded like in the 1950s, 60s and 70s.
When I was in Seattle a few weeks ago for PAX Prime, I popped over to the Seattle Indies Expo for a bit. The instant I walked in, my eyes were drawn to a booth called Infinite SCUBA. So we invited Kathie Flood on the show to talk about her love for diving, and how she came to create this gorgeous underwater exploration game.
